By the time I changed, it was getting dark outside. I love running in the dark. I like the cool weather, how solitary it feels, and even a little bit of the thrill of running in the dark.
Once my run was almost over (I HAD to keep it short, since it was a recovery day) I ran a little past my one mile (oops) just so I could backtrack to look at lights again. However, this time I disregarded my time and actually stopped to snap photos of my favorite lights.
Tonight, I was treated to a nice surprise. I got to run by many, many Christmas lights. It was beautiful running by everything all sparkly and twinkly.
Because I generally track my time, I don't like to stop when I run. As you can see in the above picture, I was trying to run and capture the beauty of the lights. I was so distracted by all the beautiful lights, I hardly noticed I was running. It was so peaceful, merry and bright.
It's not very often I wish I had a longer run, but this time I really did. I hope to do a few more night runs during this streak, just so I can stop to "smell" more lights.
