Today, we had a lot to vent and complain about. There are changes happening and that is always uncomfortable. As we ran, we talked, vented, griped, laughed and processed. We don't solve any world problems. Heck, we don't even solve any small problems. We just say our problems out loud as we keep on running.
However, halfway into the run, I had something else to complain about. My legs felt like lead, my throat was so dry it was almost closed and I was cramping in my shoulder and back. When I hurt as I run, I complain. It helps my mind to give a voice to my pain. It's like then I cannot obsess about it and just put it behind me. Even my friend said she wasn't feeling great. Mental griping and now physical griping.
Luckily, it was a short three mile run, and we were done before we knew it. As we finished, we both felt great- great that the run was over, but also just great physically. That's the thing about running, even the worst run is great once it's over. It's like you forget all the bad and just focus on how great it feels in the moment of being accomplished and done.
So in the end, to coin a term from the 80's, this run was "Bitchin'."
